Many people entitled to Medical Cards have been denied them. I will lobby relentlessly on their behalf. They must have their cards restored.
Property Tax
As an Independent candidate, I will, if elected, strive to implement the maximum 15% reduction as provided for in legislation.
Community Groups
I will donate 10% of my annual salary from Mayo County Council to funding of community and voluntary activities. This is my firm commitment
Water
Water quality and supply is another basic human right. There can be no diminution of standards. While I am on Mayo County Council, this will be a major priority of mine.
Elderly
My vision for this area is a Retirement/Nursing Home with day care and respite facilities. Our population is ageing. They are entitled to live out their final years in dignity in their own communities. Qualified staff is available locally: all we need is the facility and the political will. I will keep this firmly on the agenda.
Garda Presence
Vandalism and burglaries are a real worry for people living in rural Ireland. We need a greater Garda presence in the form of patrol cars to tackle anti-social and criminal behaviour. I will fight for an enhanced Garda presence in this region.
Regular clinics
When elected, I will hold regular clinics in my area. My door will always be open. As a public representative it will be a privilege to represent you: in return, you can be assured of my full attention whenever you have an issue you need raised.
Infrastructure
Day to day needs are a priority for all of us, dealing with planning issues, road repairs, hedge-cutting, street lights, sewage, flooding and water schemes are part of my everyday job and I appreciate that these fundamental issues are big issues for everyone at some stage in their lives.
