Jobs are a huge issue at the moment. The local economy is suffering. If we are to keep young people at home, we must think outside the box to create jobs. I will lobby for empty shop units and unused Mayo County Council properties to be rented back to local businesses at subsidised rates. We must support the existing business owners who have the potential to create jobs. It can’t be lip-service: it must be real, tangible support. As a local businessperson, I will bring my business knowledge and contacts to bear. Job creation will be my number one priority for the duration of my term on Mayo County Council.
